Frequently Asked Questions

My fee is $150 per 60-minute psychotherapy session. For families/couples, my fee is $150 per 60-minute session. Our intake (initial) session is 90 minutes and the fee is $180. Fees for therapy also cover peripheral services generally requiring less than 15 minutes at a time, such as:

  • phone calls, emails, or texts for support
  • statements of attendance, superbills, if requested
  • research and provision of referrals when appropriate
  • collaboration with other members of your support system, such as psychiatrists, for the sake of your care, with your signed consent
  • Additional fees will be applied after 15 minutes.

I offer a special program for teens to have the freedom to check in with me between sessions. The first 15 minutes is at no additional charge. If check ins exceed 45 minutes, a full session fee will be charged. If this becomes a regular occurrence, a recommendation will be made for more frequently scheduled sessions.

In my practice, it is my preference to not accept insurance. Some clients prefer to get therapy by private pay or on a sliding scale to maintain confidentiality and avoid diagnostic labels. Insurance companies require specific information related to your therapy. I am not able to control confidentiality as carefully when insurance is involved. Additionally, insurance companies only pay for services which they determine are “medically necessary,” which “always” requires a diagnosis.

While I am not currently on any insurance panels, some insurance companies will provide partial reimbursement of out-of-network providers. This typically involves the member paying for therapy first and then being reimbursed by the insurance company for a portion or in some cases, all of the fee. It is best to check with your insurance company directly for details about your coverage. Please call your insurance company directly and ask the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health OON insurance benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • What percentage will I be reimbursed when I reach my deductible?


Payment is expected at the time of service. Preferred payment is cash, check, credit cards, and PayPal are also accepted


A cancelled appointment delays our work. I am rarely able to fill a cancelled session unless I know at least 24 hours in advance. When you must cancel, please give me at least 24 hours notice. If you are unable to provide at least 24 hours notice when you cancel, you will be charged the full fee for your session. The only time I will waive this fee is in the event of serious or contagious illness or emergency.
